Two reasons you might be experiencing elbow pain

Two reasons you might be having elbow pain!

The elbow is a hinge joint. It flexes and it extends. But what if you lack the ability to extend through your thoracic spine (Rib cage) or move your shoulder blades?

1. In the picture below you can see the three variations of the spine. Neutral, lumbar (lowerback) extension, and thoracic (rib) extension. If you're stuck in flexion or a bent spine you body is going to be forced to compensate for the lack of movement in your spine. For some, that compensation might show up as over worked forearm muscles which in turn irritate the crap out of them so eventually your body is going to give you the big "PAIN" response to tell that the way you've been moving is just not working out so well. CHANGE IT!

2. Your shoulder blades move along your rib cage in 6 different motions. If you don't have access to those motions your body is going to look for help elsewhere. Maybe it will find it in your forearm rotators? Eventually those rotators are going to get tired and irritated from all the extra work give you the big "PAIN" signal to stop. CHANGE IT!

There are many many possibilities for elbow pain but don't just look at the site of pain. Pain only tells you there's a problem. It doesn't tell you where the problem exists.

Don't guess, get assessed. Listen to your body
