I trust that the body is a self-righting organism. My job is to guide the process. Part of being a guide is understanding the patterns a body will take in an attempt to right itself.

Movement exists in patterns. From the first time you lifted your head, to the time you sat down to read this website, you were moving in patterns. No single movement occurs on its own and every muscle contraction is met with a multitude of others. Movement requires motor control, which includes stability, balance, postural control, coordination and perception.

My general approach for treatment:

  • Evaluating and understanding movement - looking at both functional and dysfunctional patterns.

  • Restoring normal mobility of the tissue using techniques like ART® and massage.

  • Restoration of normal movement and function using neurological techniques such as Neurokinetic Therapy® (NKT). By finding the compensation patterns and assisting the body to find its proper function, better and more effective movement can be accomplished, taking the body out of painful cycles of compensation.

  • Assigning corrective exercises to restore and maintain full strength/function.

We all navigate through functional and dysfunctional movement daily. This approach allows for healing at the root of the problem not just the symptom.

Muscles move the body, but the brain moves the muscles. Pain and injury are a miscommunication in movement. Pain only tells you there's a problem it doesn't tell you what it is.
